On the Town: City Centre Evening Economy Tour - Reactivating Townsville 

Take a behind-the-scenes tour of urban revitalisation in the tropics on this optional evening guided walk. See how Townsville is embracing our heritage as a port city to create a unique city offering. Stroll through back lanes and hear from property owners how forgotten corners of the city have been transformed through street art and quirky bars. See the difference intelligent, sustainable lighting design has made to transform the waterfront and improve safety.

We’ll show you not just the postcard spots but also the back streets with their challenges and explain how the community is working together to create a new future for the Townsville CBD. 

Delegates will see:

  • Sealink passenger terminal - Proposed redevelopment of Magnetic Island passenger terminal
  • Anzac Park and Breakwater Marina
  • Queens Hotel – A heritage building with master plan proposed - The Hive
  • Denham Lane/ Hoi Polloi – A previously unloved laneway was renewed as the first street art project in Townsville
  • Central Park - Improvements to lighting and safety in the park
  • Palmer St lighting upgrade
  • Finish in Townsville CBD for delegates to enjoy at their own leisure
